Scenario:
The user would like to replace a DuraFon PRO handset, but there is no “clear HS” option when the admin handset tries to clear the registration from a Durafon base with base ID "04".
Answer:
The reason why there is no “clear HS” option on the handset when is because the base is not configured as a primary base. A clue is that the base number is not 00 rather it is base number 04. Only the primary base has the “clear HS” and “assign HS” options. The base 04 was probably multi-linked with other Durafon Pro bases, and the bases were not reset back to factory default settings before being separated. If the user does not want to set up the bases in a multi-link configuration, it is fine to reset the base and re-register the handsets to the base.
To erase a registration ID that is stored by the Base Station unit, get an administrative handset (ID 10 or 11) and press Menu 9, 1, then choose base number (00), then choose 4 (clear hs), which Handset registration ID to clear. In our example it would be extension ID 12. Now ID12 is clear and available as the next registration ID. The base unit gives IDs to handsets in numerical order of free IDs. You can now go to Ref #3 (above) and go through the normal Handset registration process.
