While EnGenius can support limited captive portal capability in the Neutron™ system using the Guest Network feature, this feature is only appropriate for single AP network deployments (e.g. retail shops, cafes, fast food restaurants, etc.) where users are not roaming between access points. Architecturally, the functions of captive portal and bandwidth limitations per user should be performed at the router for the site with a network controller, which integrates Layer 3 routing capabilities.

EnGenius does not manufacture enterprise routers or network controllers for applications requiring captive portals and/or bandwidth tracking per user. There are various third party vendors that provide such equipment as well as network installation, network support, and/or customer support services from Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs). EnGenius switches and access points have been successfully deployed in numerous environments with such appliances.

While EnGenius does not recommend a particular third party vendor, a (non-comprehensive) listing of applicable third party routers and network controllers, along with their basic capabilities, is provided in the table below for reference.
