The IP Code, International Protection Marking (sometimes misinterpreted as Ingress Protection Marking) classifies and rates the degree of protection provided against intrusion by any foreighn body, including body parts such as hands and fingers, dust, accidental contact, and water by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures. It is published by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC).
The protection class after EnStationAC is indicated by short symbols that consist of the two code letters IP and a code numeral for the amount of the protection. The first digit refers to the level of penetration for solid objects, and the second digit refers to the level of penetration for liquid objects.
