What does “port status” mean in regard to network switches?
Updated over a week ago

Through your network management view, you can see the status for each port on your switch, whether the port is enabled or disabled, up or down (meaning the port is either connected or not), and the port’s operating mode and connection speed.

The image below shows the port settings for the EnGenius ECS1552FP Wi-Fi 6 switch, which has 48 copper ports and 4 fiber ports (grouped to the right). Among the 48 ports, some are orange (delivering 100/10 MB speeds), some are green (delivering 1 or possibly 2.5 GB speeds), and some are white (meaning no devices are connected at all). The darker the green, the faster the speeds. The upper right fiber port has been established as an uplink port delivering up to 10 GB speeds.
